Ambassador Highlight | Jaeger’s Ideal Summer Day
My name is Jaeger and my day starts pretty much the same way every morning. I stay in my bed until my parents wake up and then after going outside briefly, I come back inside to enjoy my bowl of Triumph pet food for breakfast. After breakfast, I return to play in the yard for a while and wait to see what’s on the agenda for the day. If I see my dad get into his truck and start to back up to our boat, I know immediately that my normal day will soon turn into the BEST day.
Let me tell you what I mean by “best day”. Whenever I see my humans prepping the boat, I know it means I’ll get to spend the day on the water. You see, I’m lucky enough to live on the Alabama River and my favorite thing to do is accompany my parents out on the water for a day of endless swimming and bird-watching. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of fresh summer air blowing through my brows and beard as the boat gains speed on the water. I could ride forever just enjoying the breeze and watching birds soar through the surrounding sky.
The fun doesn’t stop on the water! A short distance from the boat launch where I live, there's a small island sand bar. This is my FAVORITE place! Once we pull ashore, I’m allowed to run from end to end of the small island chasing away birds and letting them know the sandbar is MINE! I usually do this for 15-20 minutes and then return to my parents. They bring my favorite bumper and toss it into the water so that I can practice my swimming and retrieving. This helps me cool off from running the length of the island. I get to continue swimming and playing on the island while my parents also enjoy soaking up some rays and taking a dip in the water. I’m not sure how much time passes but eventually my parents get hungry and pull out the snacks they packed for the day. Fortunately, they don’t forget about me and also bring a couple of my favorite Triumph Jerky Bites for me to enjoy.
Once we’ve spent some time on the island, we load back up and go for another ride. Further down the river, there is a herd of cows that live near the river bank. I love watching them from a distance but I’m actually kind of shy and scared when my dad pulls the boat close to the bank where they graze. They are so much bigger than me!
We stop several more times for me to explore and run along the bank, and before I know it, the afternoon sun starts to get lower in the sky. Have any of you ever taken a nap in the afternoon sun while lounging on the boat? If not, I’m here to tell you that there’s no better nap than a boat nap after a long day of playing! Once the river fun is done, we cap off the evening much the same way it started – with a bowl of Triumph pet food for dinner and then I happily make my way to my bed.
